Disneyland Australia a No Go. Or is it?

We know that Disney has had its eyes on Australia as a potential site for a new themepark for many years. In fact, the decision to build in Hong Kong instead of Australia was the final straw that caused Dick Nunis to finally leave the company.

The run of low attendance at Hong Kong Disneyland had Disney taking a second look at Australia as recently as December of 2007. But then Disney officials were quoted in February as saying there were "no active concepts" for Australia.

Were those carefully chosen words meant to throw others off the track of Disney's real purpose for Australia? A new land themed to the country in Disney's Animal Kingdom. I'm hearing rumors that the concept is back on the table.

So Disney may not be coming to Australia, but Australia is likely coming to Disney.
